Routine Pumping and Cleaning is a vital part of any septic system’s operation and maintenance program. A septic tank requires frequent pumping and cleaning in order to keep it operating properly and to protect the rest of your system. Typically, this will fall between every 24-36 months for most users.

Grease traps are designed to intercept grease, oil, and sometimes solids from wastewater generated in kitchen environments. The grease, oil and solids must be periodically removed through a pumping and cleaning process.

Aerators perform an important function of introducing oxygen into an aerobic treatment unit (ATU). It is critical that the air supply and tank operate properly, and this is done through routine monitoring and maintenance.

Pumps and Pump Tanks, sometimes called dosing tanks or chambers, need periodic maintenance to keep them operating efficiently and effectively.

Systems installed after 2007 are required to have an effluent filter. It is recommended that these be cleaned during any septic system service along with at least once a year.

Over time, solids can begin to accumulate in these lines and cause plugging. When plugging of the distribution lines begins happening, the final treatment zones ability to take and treat wastewater begins to degrade rapidly.

These pits are typically constructed of a tank with holds in the sides and without a bottom. Sewage should be removed regularly to allow the biomat, which will have formed along the sidewalls, to rest.

Holding tanks are designed to collect and hold the raw wastewater for treatment later, usually, at an offsite location. This type of system is usually expensive to operate as it requires continual pumping.
